§ Mr. John Wellsasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science when he expects to take a decision about the availability of grants to students of the Architectural Association; and to what extent that decision will clarify the position on whether or not grants will be available to students already at the association and to those joining in the autumn of 1981.
§ Dr. BoysonMy right hon. and learned Friend is at present considering the application by the Architectural Association School of Architecture for designation of its course for mandatory awards purposes. He expects to make his decision in good time for the 1981–82 academic year. If designation is granted both new students and296W students already on the course will be eligible for mandatory awards provided they meet the provisions of the Education (Mandatory Awards) Regulations.
