§ Mr. Ralph Howellasked the Secretary of State for Employment what investigation has been carried out by his Department to find out how many persons are working on the black economy (a) who have another job and (b) while receiving unemployment benefit.
§ Mr. WaddingtonNo systematic survey has been made, but the Department of Employment carries out many investigations of people who are suspected of working while receiving unemployment benefit. In the year ending February 1980, 3,367 people were prosecuted by the Department for this offence.
