§ Mr. Carter-Jonesasked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many reviews of people receiving mobility allowances are conducted each month; what is the monthly cost; what is the average length of time people have their allowance suspended whilst the review is taking place; what percentage of the reviews result in loss of allowance; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. RossiReviews of mobility allowance awards are carried out by medical boards whenever a report suggests that the claimant may no longer satisfy the medical conditions for the allowance. Such cases form only a small minority of those dealt with by medical boards. I regret that there are no separate figures for these cases and that the information requested is not, therefore, available.
