Mr. Cryer

asked the Secretary of State for Employment how many farming accidents necessitating three or more days off work took place in 1980; and how many fatal accidents took place in the same year.

In the nine months ended 30 September 1980, non-fatal accidents to agricultural employees necessitating more than three days off work totalled 2,955.

In the same period there were 41 fatal accidents, including 16 to employees.

The data are provisional. Figures for the fourth quarter are not yet available.
