HL Deb 04 February 1981 vol 416 c1274WA
Lord Brockway

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will inquire why the Government of Bangladesh have failed to issue visas to Mr. Jeffrey Thomas, QC, MP, and Mrs. Audrey Rose, members of an influential international committee, who wished to inquire into the circumstances which have impeded legal proceedings following the assassination of the late President Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, his family and others on 15th August 1975.

The Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs (Lord Carrington)

The question of visas and admission to Bangladesh is one for the Government of Bangladesh and not a matter in which Her Majesty's Government can intervene.
