§ Mr. Norman LamontWe have encouraged the development of United Kingdom manufactured heat pumps of improved cost effectiveness through research and development expenditure and we are assisting in the promotion of heat pumps by funding demonstration projects. The EEC is also sponsoring a number of United Kingdom programmes. Further work on the same lines, dealing particularly with heat pumps for the domestic sector, is under consideration.
