HC Deb 03 February 1981 vol 998 cc85-6W
33. Mr. Thomas Cox

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what are the facilities in district general hospitals in the Greater London Council area for in-patient care for children with psychiatric problems.

Sir George Young

Information is not collected centrally on facilities in district general hospitals for the inpatient care of children with psychiatric problems. However, in 1979 the average daily number of beds available for child psychiatry in all hospitals in Greater London was 79.

Children suffering from some types of psychiatric problem may be more appropriately treated by admission to a paediatric bed in a children's department, but details of such use of paediatric beds is not available.
