§ Mr. Peter WalkerThe Government believe that in the current negotiations on a new sugar regime the total sugar production quotas for the European Community should be reduced. We have already made it known that, provided the reduction is made on an equitable basis, we would accept a United Kingdom quota in line with our present annual production of about 1.15 million tonnes of white sugar.
