§ Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether, in his consideration of matters concerning the revision of the Public Order Act and of street marches and related matters, he will give consideration to the possibility of organisers of street marches and demonstrations having to take out insurance policies to cover the costs of damages, and so on, which may be caused during or subsequent to such demonstrations.
§ Mr. MayhewIf the hon. Member would elaborate the case for compulsory insurance in a letter to my noble Friend the Under-Secretary of State he will gladly consider 425W it; but we see some difficulties, for example, where damage is caused by persons for whom the organisers could not be held to be responsible.
