§ Mr. Rentonasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer which companies, all or part of whose equity is vested, directly or indirectly, in the Secretary of State, are classified to be private sector and in consequence may make borrowings which do not impinge upon the public sector borrowing requirement.

All the Companies Act companies listed—apart from the National Freight Company, which the Government intend to sell shortly, and the National Seed Development Organisation—are classified to the private sector.
