§ Mr. Wigleyasked the Attorney-General when he intends to introduce a Bill to consolidate the Chronically Sick and Disabled Persons Act 1970 into a Social Welfare Act; and whether such consolidation will include the Disabled Persons Act 1981.
The Solicitor-GeneralThere are no plans for a general consolidation of statute law relating to social welfare including the 1970 and 1981 Acts. Consideration is being given to consolidation of the law relating to local services which could affect certain sections of the 1970 Act but no decision has been taken.
