§ Mr. Ridley[pursuant to his reply, 14 December 1981, c. 61]: The Inland Revenue does not keep records of the number of entries for PAYE taxpayers. But with the exception of 2.2 million taxpayers dealt with in centre 1, almost all the 26.6 million taxpayers within PAYE are dealt with manually.
