§ Mr. Christopher Priceasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what will be the public expenditure cost of the proposal to reduce the fees chargeable to European Community students at United Kingdom institutions of higher education; and by what percentage the average differential between their fees and those of other overseas students will now be increased.
§ Mr. WaldegraveThe cost within my Department's programme will be about £1½ million and the average fee differential for EC students compared with other overseas students starting courses from October 1980 onwards will increase by 20 to 25 per cent.
