§ Mr. Cyril Smithasked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will ask the Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service to produce a study on the usefulness and effectiveness of wages councils, and on alternative schemes for dealing with minimum wage rates in industry.
§ Mr. AlisonMy right hon. Friend has no plans to do so. The operation of the Wages Council Act 1979 is kept under review.
