§ Mr. MayhewThe police have a duty to enforce the law and maintain the peace whether in the context of an industrial dispute or otherwise. The role of the police in relation to picketing is set out clearly in the code of practice on picketing published last year by my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Employment.
