§ Mr. Pawseyasked the Prime Minister to what extent it is the policy of Her Majesty's Government to purchase British goods wherever possible in public sector purchasing.
§ The Prime MinisterHer Majesty's Government purchase goods made in Britain—whether by British or foreign-owned companies—whenever they are competitive, which is the case in the great majority of contracts. I hope that the improvement in the competitiveness of British industry which is now taking place will result in an even greater proportion of Government purchases being met from British suppliers.
