HC Deb 10 December 1981 vol 14 cc479-80W
Mr. Sainsbury

asked the Minister for the Civil Service whether, pursuant to the answer by the hon. Mr. Hayhoe

The information requested is as follows for the period from 1 November 1978 to 31 October 1981:

Ministry of Defence 26
Department of Education and Science 1
Department of Energy 2

Health and Safety Executive 1
Home Office 3
Office of Population Censuses and Surveys 1
Scottish Office 5

The figure of 65 posts at the level of Assistant Secretary and above in the Home Civil Service included in my answer on 25 November consisted of 28 to which requirement had been undertaken centrally by the Civil Service Commission and 39—two of which have only recently been notified to MPO—to which appointments had been made directly by employing Departments.
