§ Mr. Humphrey AtkinsMy meeting with the Deputy Secretary of State of the United States of America was one of the regular series of informal meetings which Ministers have with colleagues in other countries to exchange views on matters of common interest. During a discussion covering a number of topics, Judge Clark raised that of Northern Ireland. I expressed the appreciation of Her Majesty's Government for the helpful attitude adopted by the United States Government and informed him of the discussions which my right hon. Friend the Prime Minister had with Dr. FitzGerald at the beginning of November.
