HC Deb 03 December 1981 vol 14 c209W
Mr. Cryer

asked the Secretary of State for Defence how many types of anti-tank device are currently in service with North Atlantic Treaty Organisation forces; whether he regards them as effective; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Blaker

There are over 50 different types of antitank weapon systems currently in service with NATO forces. These include missiles, rockets, shells and mines designed specifically for use against armoured vehicles, as well as more general battlefield systems, such as NATO's own tanks, artillery and ground support aircraft capable of engaging a wide range of surface targets. The effectiveness of the different systems would vary according to the tactical situations in which they were used.
