§ Mr. Alan Clarkasked the Secretary of State for Trade whether he has any evidence that subsidies given in foreign countries are reducing the cost of paper imports.
§ Mr. Peter ReesThis issue, among others, has been thoroughly examined during the past year by a joint working party of officials of the Departments of Trade and of Industry and representatives of the British Paper and Board Industry Federation. With due regard to the equally important interests of British users of paper, my Department will continue to pursue with the European Commission any evidence of foreign subsidies unfairly distorting trade.
