HC Deb 01 December 1981 vol 14 c91W
Mr. Onslow

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what progress his Department is making with the drafting of the proposed amendments to the regulations dealing with the registration of births, deaths and marriages; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Geoffrey Finsberg

A preliminary draft of a full set of new regulations has been completed and is being considered by the Registrar General's legal advisers.

The regulations are of a complex and technical nature and, although progress has been made, there remains a good deal still to be done on them and it is likely to be some months before the work is completed.
