§ Mr. Peter ReesDecisions on how far to pursue the investigation of possible liabilities for past years are taken by the Inland Revenue with due regard to its responsibility for the care and management of the direct taxes under section 1 of the Taxes Management Act 1970. For the position with regard to the Fleet Street newspaper proprietors I refer my hon. Friend to the reply that I gave to the hon. Member for Brigg and Scunthorpe (Mr. Brown) on 27 April.
