Member for Norfolk, North Official Report, 9 March, c. 257, if he will show the savings if child benefit were made liable to tax, assuming 1981–82 benefit and income levels and that no child benefit were payable to families earning more than £10,000 a year.
§ Mr. Peter ReesIf child benefit were liable to tax and no child benefit were payable to families with incomes over £10,000 a year the savings at 1981–82 benefit and income levels would be about £1.5 billion.
