§ Sir Anthony Meyerasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will arrange for nurses employed by the National Health Service who are required to wear shoes of a uniform type to be issued with two free pairs each year, as is already the case with women police constables.
§ Sir George YoungNational Health Service authorities are responsible for decisions on uniforms worn by nursing staff. Different authorities have different requirements concerning uniforms. Any general proposal that all nursing staff in the NHS should be entitled to free provision of footwear would be a matter for the Nurses and Midwives Whitley Council.
