§ Mr. Kilroy-Silkasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will publish his Department's research unit's report on the way that complaints against the police are investigated before he takes any decision or changes the procedure for investigating serious complaints against the police.
§ Mr. WhitelawAs my hon. Friend the Minister of State said in his reply to a question by the hon. Member for Islington, South and Finsbury (Mr. Cunningham) on 13 April, the timing and form of publication of the research report will be considered on completion of the study, which is an examination into the way the Metropolitan Police deal with complaints from black and 267W white complainants. The possible need for changes in the present arrangements for dealing with complaints against the police is a related but separate matter, on which I refer the hon. Member to the reply I gave to a question by my hon. Friend the Member for Petersfield (Mr. Mates) on 18 March.
