§ Mr. D. E. Thomasasked the Secretary of State for Wales what is his assessment of the educational effects of the general deterioration in maintenance of fabric and fittings indicated in paragraph 20 of the report of Her Majesty's Inspectorate on expenditure policies.
§ Mr. Michael RobertsThis is not an area where it is possible to make a precise assessment. The Secretary of State agrees that it is important for the fabric and fittings of schools to be properly maintained and hopes that local authorities will give the maintenance of buildings due priority in their allocation of resources.
