§ Sir Ian GilmourThere have been a number of public and private statements by PLO representatives in recent years which have suggested that the PLO wishes to pursue a peaceful settlement negotiated with Israel. There are also public statements on record which indicate the contrary. We continue to urge the PLO at every opportunity to accept unequivocally Israel's right to a secure and independent existence and to amend the covenant accordingly.
