§ Mr. Beithasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science whether it remains the policy of Her Majesty's s Government that all those suitably qualified by ability and attainment should have access to higher education.
§ Dr. BoysonAs was stated in the recent public expenditure White Paper, the Government expect that there could be increased competition for places in higher education. It is not possible to say whether this will mean that any suitably qualified students will be unable to gain access to higher education. The Government expect institutions to admit as many students as they can consistent with their academic judgment.
