§ Sir George YoungThis was taken fully into account in the design of the King's Fund bed, which is now the most widely used in the NHS for acute care. I am not aware of any specific new research of bed design for this purpose, but it is possible that some information may emerge from the studies the Department is sponsoring, by the Universities of Surrey and Edinburgh, into back injury to nurses.
