§ Mr. D. E. Thomasasked the Secretary of State for Defence if he will list all research contracts or grants let by his Department to departments of the University of Wales or the Polytechnic of Wales in each of the years 1975 to 1980; and for each contract or grant what was its title, the name of the principal investigator concerned, its financial value, and the number of years for which it is to run.
§ Mr. GoodhartDuring the period in question, the Ministry of Defence concluded 36 research agreements with the University of Wales involving an estimated expenditure of slightly over £1 million. There were no74W agreements with the Polytechnic of Wales. The duration of the agreements varied but in most cases was three or four years. They were concerned mostly with research into the chemical, physical and electromagnetic properties of various materials and with some fundamental research into fluid dynamics.
