§ Mr. John Garrettasked the Minister for the Civil Service what is the total cost of departmental reviews carried out under the guidance of Sir Derek Rayner; and what has been the actual savings made as a result of these reviews to the end of March.
§ Mr. HayhoeExamining officers' costs for the reviews have been about £1¼ million so far. Between 1 April 1979 and 31 March 1981 Civil Service manpower was reduced by more than 37,000. I refer the hon. Member to the departmental Ministers concerned for information on the precise contribution made to these and other savings by particular initiatives, including those carried out with the help of Sir Derek Rayner.
