§ Mr. Lathamasked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland whether he intends to bring forward any fresh proposals for greater democratic control at local level within the Province of matters which would be the responsibility of local authorities in all other parts of the United Kingdom.
§ Mr. Humphrey AtkinsIt remains the Government's view that Northern Ireland would benefit from a transfer of responsibilities—on an acceptable basis—to representatives elected by people in the Province. I shall bring forward proposals when I judge that there exists a sufficient degree of acceptability to commend them to Parliament.
