§ Mr. MacfarlaneOfficials from the Department and the local authority associations are currently reviewing the242W existing statutory basis for the provision of further education, including adult education, in order to clarify and update it, and will be reporting to my right hon. and learned Friend and to the local authority associations later this spring. Any recommendations to amend present legislation will be the subject of wider consultation, as previously indicated in the 'White Paper "Special Needs in Education" (Cmnd. 7996).
