§ Mr. StanleyMy right hon. and learned Friend the Lord Chancellor has made a new set of rules for county216W court proceedings under the Rent Act 1977, which will enable landlords who let on shorthold, and other landlords with a mandatory right to possession under the Act, to invoke a special procedure and to obtain an early hearing. The rules are the Rent Act (County Court Proceedings) Rules 1981 and are contained in Statutory Instrument 1981 No. 139, which was made on February 4 and comes into operation today.
