§ Dr. McDonaldasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will set out in detail in the Official Report the methods used for calculating the uprating of the national insurance child dependency additions for November 1978–79, November 1979–80, November 1980–81 and November 1981–82.
§ Mrs. ChalkerSection 17(1) of the Child Benefit Act 1975 allows the Secretary of State to reduce the rates of national insurance child dependency additions to such an extent as he considers appropriate having regard to the increase in the rate of child benefit, and section 17(4) permits this reduction to be carried out at the time of the general benefits uprating.
