§ Sir Ian GilmourResponsibility for supervising the provisions of the Montreux convention relating to the transit of warships is a matter for the Turkish Government. From time to time, questions on the application of the provisions of the convention are discussed between the British and Turkish Governments, and other parties to the convention. The British Government's views on the interpretation and application of the convention are not always shared by our allies.
