§ Mr. MacGregorThe Post Office, British Steel Corporation, British Shipbuilders, Cable and Wireless Ltd., BL Ltd., Rolls Royce Ltd., the Design Council and the Department's Research Establishments sell good s or services. Only the activities of the Post Office and BL Ltd. have a direct bearing on the retail price index. No body has responsibility for monitoring prices. My right hon. Friend has no statutory powers to approve or prevent nationalised industry price increases.
