HC Deb 03 April 1981 vol 2 c135W
Mr. Michael Brown

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what steps he has taken to publicise the arrangements which have been made to enable individuals and organisations to pay their taxes directly to the Treasury while the Civil Service unions remain in dispute with the Government.

Sir Geoffrey Howe

No arrangements have been made by Inland Revenue to enable individuals and organisations to pay their taxes directly to the Treasury. The attention of the larger payers has been drawn to the existing transfer credit facilities, which are available to all taxpayers.

Customs and Excise have been in touch with certain companies direct about the way in which they should make their payments. Others should continue to send in the amounts due from them in the normal way.
