§ Mr. Geoffrey FinsbergProvisional—seasonally adjusted—figures show that in January 1981 there were 2,200 housing starts in the public sector in England and 8,600 in the private sector. The number of public sector starts this year will depend largely on what proportion of their capital allocations local authorities decide to devote to new house building. In the private sector it will depend on the commercial judgements of private house builders.
