§ Q16. Mr. Rentonasked the Prime Minister whether she plans to meet trade union leaders to discuss the need for moderation in wage settlements in order to create new jobs.
§ The Prime MinisterI and my colleagues met members of the general council of the Trades Union Congress on 14 October. During our discussions we took the opportunity to emphasise again the effect of the level of pay increases on employment. We shall continue to press this point with trade union leaders in the NEDC and elsewhere.
