§ 20. Miss Fookesasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will refer the intensive rearing and transport of rabbits for commercial purposes to the Farm Animal Welfare Council with a view to regulations being introduced to ensure the animals' welfare.
§ Mr. WigginI understand that the council is already undertaking preliminary work on a welfare code for rabbits which will cover both intensive and extensive methods of production. The transport of such animals is already subject to the Transit of Animals (General) Order 1973.
