Ross asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what has been the value of the public sector borrowing requirement in each year since 1971.

The public sector borrowing requirement from 1963 to 1978, by years and quarters, is given inEconomic Trends Annual Supplement 1980 Edition, pages 146 and 147. Its value in 1979 was £12,564 million. Its value in recent financial years is given in Financial Statistics, table 2.5.
