Ian Paisleyasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will consider reviewing the basis upon which farmers are taxed so that they might be taxed on a three to five year basis, in order that better account might be taken of their fluctuating fortunes and to enable them to balance a good year of financial return with a bad year.
§ Mr. Peter ReesI have no plans to extend, over a longer period, the existing provisions which enable farmers to average their profits for tax purposes over two consecutive years.
