§ Mr. Hannamasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what representations he has received from any organisations or individuals expressing dissatisfaction at the short time allowed for comments on the White Paper, "Special Needs in Education"; and whether, in view of the time allowed he will give an assurance that submissions received after 6 October will be considered before legislation is introduced.
§ Dr. BoysonNineteen bodies have indicated their difficulties in responding to the White Paper by 6 October, either because of their own committee timetable, or generally on the grounds of the time available for comment. They have been assured individually, and I can assure my hon. Friend, that all representations received by the end of October will be taken into account.
§ Mr. Hannamasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science when he expects to introduce legislation based on the proposals in the White Paper, "Special Needs in Education"; and if he will make a statement.
§ Dr. BoysonAs the White Paper indicated, it is the Government's wish to introduce early legislation but my right hon. and learned Friend cannot anticipate the contents of the Queen's Speech.
