HC Deb 27 October 1980 vol 991 c187W
Mr. Rooker

asked the Secretary of State for Socmial Services how many persons registered as unemployed receive neither unemployment nor supplementary benefit.

Mrs. Chalker:

At 14 August 1980, the latest available date, 324,000 claimants to unemployment benefit or unemployment credits were receiving neither unemployment benefit nor supplementary allowance; this total includes 148,200 claimants whose entitlement to unemployment benefit had not been determined at that date but excludes those registered unemployed who were claiming neither benefit nor credits. The figures I have given can be found in the quarterly analysis of registered unemployed claimants, a copy of which is in the House of Commons Library.
