HC Deb 27 October 1980 vol 991 cc26-7W
Mr. Greville Janner

asked the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster whether he will seek to appoint a Select Committee on Procedure to discuss aspects of parliamentary procedure including those related to Private Members' legislation and the amount of time allocated to this per Session, and also to consider matters relating to Question Time including the use and abuse of open questions.

Mr. St. John-Stevas:

I refer the hon. and learned Member to my replies to his questions on 21 and 25 July 1980. The House will shortly debate outstanding recommendations in the first report of the Select Committee on Procedure (Session 1977–78).
