HC Deb 27 October 1980 vol 991 c92W
Mr. Rooker

asked the Secretary of State for Wales how many young persons aged 18 years and under there are in Pembroke who have never had a job; and if he will provide comparable figures for 1979 and 1978.

Mr. Nicholas Edwards:

Figures are not available on a constituency basis. On 9 October 1980 there were 322 young people, aged 18 and under, who had not been in employment since completing full-time education, registered as unemployed in the employment offices of Fishguard, Haverfordwest, Milford Haven, Pembroke Dock and Tenby. In 1979 and 1978 the corresponding figures were 236 and 246. In addition other young people in this category will be engaged on the youth opportunities programme.
