HC Deb 27 October 1980 vol 991 cc80-1W
34. Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Prime Minister why she has not and will not arrange for an official Government reception to be held at No. 10 Downing Street for the successful and other participants in the recent Olympic Games.

The Prime Minister:

British competitors took part in the Moscow Games against the advice of the Government. While some achieved notable sporting successes at the games, in the circumstances it would clearly be inappropriate for me to arrange an official reception.
