§ 22. Mr. Strawasked the Secretary of State for Trade what steps he has taken since July to control disruptive imports of man-made fibres from the United States of America; and what other measures of control on surveillance of open imports of textiles and clothing he has taken since that date.
§ Mr. Nott:I am reviewing the question whether the existing import quotas on polyester and nylon yarns should be renewed next year and whether additional products should be added.
Provisional anti-dumping duties were imposed on imports of polyester filament yarn from the United States by the European Communities Commission on 2 September and an application for similar action on polyester fabrics is also currently being examined.
Since July controls have been introduced on imports of certain textiles and clothing from Thailand, South Korea, Egypt and Taiwan and I have also maintained surveillance on over 200 especially sensitive restricted third country goods in 31W free circulation in other member States of the Community.
