Mr. Ernie Ross

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what is the amount of food surpluses currently being held in intervention stores in Scotland in implementation of Common Market policy.

At 17 October 1980, the following commodities purchased by the Intervention Board for Agricultural Produce were held in store in Scotland:

Beef (subject to final verification) 2,757 tonnes
Barley 56,970 tonnes
Butter 749 tonnes
